04年在Murphy手下master毕业，thesis title为Using Structural Context to Recommend Source Code Examples。
04-08年在Walker下博士毕业，phd thesis title为Pragmatic Software Reuse。
再看之后其发表的一系列文章，可以说他的研究方向不像Martin那样只集中在1-2个，他的文章感觉涉及的面比较多，如他自己home page所说：
“My pastprojectshave investigated a range of problems surrounding software reuse, software search, context-sensitive example location, API understanding, and team awareness. ”
看他之前的文章确实有这个感觉，而看最近几年的文章，可以发现他的研究着力点改了，有点偏failure detection或者test。他自己的概括则是“I am currently focusing on inconsistency detection and speculative analysis（这个speculative analysis是什么东东？）.”
