So, what the heck does the title mean? "The Evolution of God"?

First things first. Let's take a closer look at the words that it contains. There are two nouns, namely Evolution and God.

Evolution means 1. a progressive process, in which there are two important factors--natural selection as its mechanism, and adaptation as its result; 2. a gradual development of something, from a simple to a more complex form.

What does this have to do with the project? There's a progression from the first to the last of the cubes. The materials embedded in the cement range from things that are present in the primordial world, such as wood and shells, to later elements, like rope, that represents human maneuver, to modern technological elements, like fashionable cloths, sneakers, and even an ipod (representing the latest developments in the world). We can say that this shows the evolution of the composition of the things found on earth throughout the course of history.

Sequence: ropes; wood and sprouts; crushed stones; coal and shells (black and white small elements, reminds me of yin and yang; half-clay-half-cement, showcasing the different properties of different materials); logs; rotten fruits and snail shells; bones; vegetation growing out of the cracks; tearing the structure apart; colorful clothes with green sprouts growing on the top; colorful sneakers, soil, feathers;

Evolution has an overtone of progression, but the sculptures are falling apart, doomed to disintegration. What does this mean? Maybe, in Villar Rojas's perspective, disintegration of the civilization and its dissolution into nature is in some sense a progression, a progression of God.

In what ways does God change throughout this metamorphosis? To answer this question, we must first identify the meaning of "God" in here. Is it a religious God, an anthropomorphic divine being, as conceived in monotheistic religions? Or, is it referring to a higher power in general, which would strike an agnostic tone? Is Villar Rojas religious? I would assume, for an intellectual like Villar Rojas, a religious God is out of question.
