OTC

OTC stands for "Over The Counter," which refers to medicines or products that can be purchased without a prescription from a healthcare professional. These products are typically available at pharmacies, drugstores, or even some grocery and convenience stores.

OTC products are usually used for self-medication to treat common health issues such as headaches, colds, allergies, minor aches and pains, and other non-serious conditions. Examples of common OTC medicines include:

  • Pain relievers (e.g., ibuprofen, acetaminophen)
  • Cold and flu remedies (e.g., decongestants, cough suppressants)
  • Allergy medicines (e.g., antihistamines)
  • Digestive aids (e.g., antacids, laxatives)
  • Skincare products (e.g., acne treatments, sunscreens)
  • Vitamins and supplements

While OTC products are generally safe when used as directed, it's important to read the label carefully and follow the instructions to ensure proper usage and avoid potential side effects.
