The Princess Pea told the king there was a mouse. But the king was so shortsighted that he thought it was a bug. When they were talking about Despereaux, he realized that he was in danger. He shaked and sneezed. Princess Pea didn't want to frighten the small mouse and she noticed that he liked listening to the music. So she asked her father, the king, to play guitar for the mouse. Although the king didn't want to play for a bug, he didn't want to make his daughter upset. He played and sang. The music was so sweet that Despereaux forgot where he was and moved closer and closer to the king until he was sitting right at the foot of the king. Princess Pea reached out and touched the mouse's head. She smiled at him and he smiled back. Despereaux thought the princess was like the maiden in the book. An amazing thing happened then. Despereaux, a mouse in the wall of a castle, fell in love with the princess.
