Gene-editing done by He Jiankui is unbearbable for many people in that such modifications will be passed on to subsequent generations and the risks to human subjects cannot justify the benefits. Besides, IVF involving HIV-positive men involves washing the virus out of their semen, so what is the point of doing such experiments other than raising attention or funding?
