Reflection: 

This short text is from the writer's (Tan Shib-hua) oral autobiography. Since I have little background knowledge of this author, my reflection of this text is based on the analysis of the author's words and behaviours in this text. Additionally, this text is less difficult to understand with few literary diction. It's simply a narration (autobiography). 

Questions and Responses:

1. Notice the customs mentioned in connection with the birth of the sister, the celebration a month later, and the sister's birthday a year later. 

These details can be found in those paragraphs with clear time signposts.

2. How much older than his sister was the writer?

As the writer narrated in the end, 'I was grown up. I was six years older than she'. 

3. In what ways does the essay reveal the age of the brother?

The reveal of the age of the writer was deliberately put at the end of this text. This ending makes this narration feel not only like a conclusion of this text as well as the recalling of the memory, or more precisely "retrospect" we call in writing techniques.
